Man on a mission to lower DUI numbers
A Lubbock bar owner is hoping to decrease the number of Texans driving under the influence with the help of a vending machine-styled breathalyzer that he wants to put in bars all over the state, including eventually in Odessa.
Dave Melton of Amarillo said the idea came to him to start trying to curb drinking and driving incidents after finding out about a bar that shut down in Lubbock after a patron killed a person in an accident after leaving the bar.
“Every year it’s the same thing — drink, drive, go to jail,” Melton said when discussing the severity of the problem.
